About Pasi Organs
Pasi Organ Builders is located south of Seattle in Roy, Washington. The firm specializes in building fine mechanical action organs and restoration of historic instruments. Working with a small group of fine craftsmen, Martin Pasi oversees all phases of building his organs, including design, manufacturing, voicing, and installation. All components of the instruments are built in his shop. Since the opening of the shop in 1990, 18 instruments have been completed ranging in size from a 3 stop continuo to a large 3 manual organ
Mr. Pasi is a native of Austria where he received his early training. He has previously been involved in several organ building projects of magnitude, including the St. Cecilia Cathedral in Omaha, Nebraska, the Eastman-Rochester Organ Initiative at the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, New York; and at the Göteburg Organ Art Center in Göteburg, Sweden.
Martin Pasi, of Pasi Organ Builders, Inc. in Roy, Washington was chosen to build Sacred Heart's new grand organ. The organ has been under construction since that time, with all parts carefully designed, hand-made and customized especially for the Co-Cathedral. Mr. Pasi is a native of Austria where he received his early training. He has previously been involved in several organ building projects of serious magnitude around the world - many of which where his firm has been at the head of the construction and design of the pipe organ.
Martin Pasi in particular is known for using a modern adaptation of an ancient pipe making technique which ensures that organ pipes are made without electricity. It is believed - and has been studied - that these older ways affect the metallurgy that, in the end, sweetens the sounds of the instrument.
