C-YA! Catholic Young Adults
Education: We are committed to ongoing development of our Catholic faith through book studies, studies of the Catechism and Church encyclicals, small group discussions, and any relevant opportunities we come across.
Prayer: As committed Catholics, we gather each week at Mass together. Though C-YA members attend various weekend Masses, you can usually spot some of our group at the Sunday 11am, and 5:30pm Masses sitting together a few rows back from the altar, on the right side of the center aisle. We gather monthly to pray the various mysteries of the Rosary, and attend Annunciation Catholic Church's First Friday Devotion. We also join other parishes' spiritual activities, such as Café Catholica (St. Michael - Galleria), retreats for young adults, and special Masses throughout the year.
Service: Service to our parish and the Houston community is definitely important to us. For 2010/2011, when we were just barely forming, we were awarded the Catholic Charities Service Organization of the Year! In more recent months, we've assisted in parish outreach through the annual Christmas " Share Your Blessings," gift drive, as well as the parish " Caritas Day" service projects. We've also assisted with cleaning an early childhood care center, cleaning the homes/yards of senior citizens on fixed incomes, and other projects. We look forward to serving more people through our parish, and the Houston community organizations.
